Moments of Pure Bliss

Pure bliss is the goal, though seldom achieved completely. Other people exist to mess it up.

Welcome to my blog and show, Resetting Your Life. You can watch this podcast on my YouTube Channel at or listen to it wherever you find your podcasts. Just search on my name, Ned Lips. You can only enjoy my interview with singer, Laka, there.

I’m the author of Reset, a story about Sarah’s journey from hell to hero, from fearful to utterly fearless in a world where everything man-made has been removed from the face of the earth, and First Steps, in which Sarah escapes from her brutal abusive marriage, narrowly getting away with her life and two daughters. My third book, Entwined continues Sarah’s journey to trust and to love as she moves the Family forward in a world dominated by pure nature. You can find them on Amazon by searching Ned Lips, or through my website,

Along your journey to Reset your life, you will have moments of bliss. These are times when you’re sure it is all coming together for you and that nothing can get in your way. Cherish these moments, for they are few and far between and all too fleeting, until you’ve found the internal strength, your superpowers, that allow you to do what you know in your heart is right for you, no matter what anyone else says.

It is in these times that you grow stronger, more self-confident, more connected to your allies and your dreams. Life will interrupt these times and try to knock you back to the track they want you on, but use these moments of joy and stillness to gather strength.

Sarah finds solace in nature. It is here that her allies reside and from here that her powers derive.

She and the horse were in taller, light green grasses with yellow and white wildflowers that reached to the western horizon. The breeze blew across the plain, giving the area the appearance of an ocean, flowing in and out with the never-ending tides. The undulations began up the far slope, crossed the river below her and flowed all the way up the gradual rise to the trees, where the wind was lost in the rustle of leaves above her. She sat and felt the stillness and peace of undisturbed nature. It was one of her favorite sensations. She could sense everything around her. Small animals scurrying amidst the grasses, birds in the trees and sky. There were hundreds, thousands. Life was exploding around her and within her. She closed her eyes and drank it all in. She felt her connection to the horse and let it sink into her. She felt the bear deep in the woods to the west and let his spirit soak into hers. She felt the predator with the green eyes well off in the forest behind her—a tiger, the Tiger—and felt a connection with him. She felt the elephant, somewhere out there as well. It was enveloping, sensual, wondrous. She let them in and felt their spirits become stronger within her.”

These are moments of great joy. For Sarah, they are peaceful connections to her world of nature and spirits. For you, it may be quite different. These are special times, where you can feel your efforts coming together to fruition. You feel your passions becoming clearer. You can see your future with clarity. You can sense your world becoming more real for you. Your superpowers, while perhaps not all there, are within your grasp. It is wondrous, and you want to stay in these moments as long as you can, but your heart will guide you into your next steps.

The sun shone down on them with radiant splendor as a gentle breeze blew from the west, bringing with it the subtle sweet scents of wildflowers. The world spread out at her feet.

“Magnificent,” she said out into the vastness. Tom slid in behind her, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. She stared up into his big blue eyes and said, “Wow.”

Sarah survived her brutal marriage to Robert, and that makes completely releasing herself to love Tom difficult. Trust, risk, uncertainty. We all have those experiences in our past that make us doubt even the things that we are so clearly certain of today. Sarah shares a moment of bliss with Tom, as she stares out across the beautiful valley that marks their southern border. It touches her deeply and during this time their bond is strengthened. Of course, life interrupts, but she has more upon which to build her trust and love of Tom because of this moment of pure bliss.

As you understand your passions, know you deserve joy, find and exploit your superpowers the moments of pure joy become longer, deeper and shared among more friends and allies. That is what you are Resetting Your Life to accomplish.

It’s amazing how wonderful it feels when you’ve made the commitment to Reset your life. Don’t get me wrong—it’s scary. You’re starting over. In my case, I was 56 years old. I turn 60 this month. I’ve written three novels in the Reset series and put them out there for all to see and either like or criticize. That’s frightening.

I still do a little real estate on the side, but now it’s on the side, and writing is my main focus. Thank heavens people like my novels so far, First Steps, Reset and Entwined.

Today is a day of bliss. It’s nice to feel so good about what I’m doing. I hope you have these as well. I hope they last.
